Tarukai's Art stuffs

I guess I've got enough stuff to post for now, and I should showcase some of my drawings. Some of you probably remember the like, two-panel comic I put in the sketch thread in here, but I've revised my style, and I feel it's a step in the right direction for me.

First up for now is the main character of a comic I'm developing (original, I know =P). His name is Casey McCabe, an orange, white and black fox-dog; and I think I have a good character design.

(the pictures are not very small, so I'm going to post the links and hope photobucket does well with it)

First picture of Casey:

I drew that as a universal reference picture and then decided to go from there, revising for quicker drawing as I went.

Sketches of different expressions (off of the initial drawing page):

and the second page of sketches:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a six-panel comic that I have inked the border of, but I do not have dialogue in it yet. Based on the hand-writing you see up there, should I write out the dialogue and stuff or should I type it?

also, the sketches are going to be dirty and stuff because I only adjusted the levels but didn't really try to get rid of the slight areas where the eraser left smudges and stuff.

comments and criticism welcome and such.

Hope you like them! (I will probably upload the comic tomorrow)

This reminds me of something...

Your art style is like a combination of early, early Newshounds and early Cerebus. :D

I gotta agree with Cameron. Good looking sketches. I would compare the art style to something of the late '80's Warner Bros. period.

Nice work man. Really like it. I'm I to assume that that is a fox? I hope so cause I'd hate to offend you by saying what a good looking fox only to have you say it wasn't a fox at all

you're correct. Although, to be fair, he's a fox-dog (dad dog, mom fox).

and Cameron: what's funny is, I've never read either of those XD

PR: I should have a look back to it to see, because I didn't even think about it that way.

Thanks for the comments guys =D

I wasn't sure at first what to make him, but I did decide on the coloring really quickly. I thought it made it a bit different.

and thanks Osprey =D

Thanks for the comments Roo, PC.

Alright, I've got the first little comic thing good enough to show you guys. I inked it (which might've been a bad idea, in retro-spect >.>) and scanned it in, but my scanner is dumb, and it didn't get the entire thing. either way! I did a little cleanup before my mouse decided to be a dumb piece of crap and have the left button not work right =/ and made it look better than it did before.

It's by no means done yet, as the title would suggest (work in progress), but it's coming along well I'd say.

This is a simple comic with nothing really all that relevant right now, except roommate hijinks (meaning there's someone else I have to develop too =P).

cleanup isn't amazing, but I only have a mouse and I'm used to doing stuff like this on a tablet like at school.

Sorry for the tl;dr up there, but I didn't feel like shortening that, since it migh contain something that is important.

also, when I finally get my tax return, a tablet shall be had! (it will make it much easier, and I can dabble in the ways of just putting it right into the computer)

enjoy!

EDIT: oh, and I don't think I'll be handwriting dialogue and such =/ too much cleanup involved with me and my writing (I tend to be a perfectionist with it, especially in cases like this)

As I recall, the coffee on "Dragnet" was double sugar, double cream. Double disaster?
