Define Cynical Fan Forums

I'm currently working on coloring a strip. I have no idea how to do gradients.<br><br>Plus, Caigan must know something that I don't, because I can't do it in no quickie half hour to 1 1/2 or 2 hours like he can.<br><br>If it helps any, I am using Paintshop Pro 7.<br><br>When I am done, it will be the first time Shelley has ever appeared in color! I even have a PM back and forth thingy for DCS's help with deciding what color her hair shall be. XD He'd never even thought about that before.<br><br>Here is what I got goin so far. Actually, I uploaded this one last night. Since then I have made a few corrections on an error or 2 I noticed, and when I get home from work I gotta correct another error DCS pointed out to me.<br><br><img src='http://img44.exs.cx/img44/1897/shelley7zi.png' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Sorry, can't help you with Paint Shop Pro.<br><br>The main advantage of layers is that they allow you to organize elements of the image. Also, layer styles are very useful. Multiply makes it possible to not draw over the black lines.<br><br>And...that purple hair just doesn't look right....

XD, DCS had never thought of it before, but he had an idea for hair color. Something about a non saturated purple. I wasn't sure what that meant, but I figure its a light color. XD<br><br>But we're still tryin to find the shade of purple that'll work.

Grr...you keep colorin mah thangs!!!<br><br>XD her white hands was the error I fixed today before work, and I wouldnt color her shirt. All I'm tryin to figure out now is what shade of purple to use. And if non-saturated means not so dark purple, then your shade of purple would be against DCS's idea. :P

This is starting to look like a coloring contest. <br><br>Hmmmm..... Think we should hold an official coloring contest? Of course, being the original author, David Simpson would have to have the final say, but I bet the fans could figure out some good colors for him to pick.<br><br>Y'know, I did always picture Shelley's hair purple like that, but I was just chalking it up to my generally purple persuasion... Had anyone thought of a different color that works well?<br><br><span style='color:#64008D'>Note: I split the Shelley colorings from the original thread so that Allison's work doesn't get lost in her own topic.</span>

Oddly enough, my first insticnt would be that it was some shade of purple. That's just the only thing that seemed to make sense at the time.

I liked the darker purple, the light purple makes her look old...

It all looks good to me.

Saturation refers to the lack-of-grayness in a color. So unsaturated would mean grayed out, dull if you will. Which makes sense since both of the above colors appear too bright for my taste.<br><br>And as for gradients (I assume you have a separate layer underneath for fills) do whatever you do to make the area in question a solid color (any one will do). Click on the Fill tool. Open the Tool Properties window and where it says "Solid Color," click and select "Linear Gradient" for a, well, linear gradient (a sample with appear below.) Then click the Gradient tab and bick "Foreground/Background," then set the foreground and background colors to the colors you want to fade. Then adjust the angle knob until it's positioned right, and then click on the solid color you painted. That's all!<br><br>Hope that was helpful.
