I only know the Garfield I know, and it's probably the later lame stuff.

Still think your comic is a damn sight funnier dude :wag:

Garfield was funny from its second year through its 4th. At that point, Jim Davis pretty much ran out of material and started repeating himself, and has been doing so since then.

Jim Davis doesn't write it anymore. Or draw it. Garfield is made by committee.

Let's have all cartoonists here, however amateur, make a vow that they will never allow their comics to be done by committee.

I vow that I will never let my comic be run by a committee. But I do reserve the rights to steal material from everyone else :wag:

I solemnly swear that I'll never let the money go to my head unless its quite a lot of money. Somewhere in the range of ten dollars and up.

You guys ever hear of the Garfield Randomizer? It was a website which would generate new Garfield strips by combining three random frames from three random Garfield strips. The results were often -- nay, almost always -- much more hilarious than any "normal" Garfield strip.

The website was pulled due to copyright issues, but not before I saved a copy of it and hosted it on my work department's intranet server, so my department gets to play with it all day long.

If it wouldn't be considered off-topic, I'd love to post some of the more hilarious strips that I've generated.

gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

I personally prefer the discovery that many "Garfield" strips work better when you erase the thought bubbles (presumably leaving only what humans can sense). It can look like brilliant minimalism at work.

I thought the point was to make Jon look even more pathetic than he already is.

Toastpaint. I've got a new one, and I'm linking to it instead of pasting it because, if you can believe it, Imageshack is blocked here.

Yep. He's just a sad lonely man talking to his cat.

As for finding the Randomizer out there, WOOHOO! I strongly suggest saving it to your computer in case it goes away again.

EDIT: That was my 100th post... I was hoping it would be something deeper...

Not just talking to his cat, but projecting his own realizations of inadequacy onto his cat and yelling at him for it.
