the ninja penguin

Postby KJ Fellie » Sun Dec 23, 2007 1:01 pm

I have finally gotten around to drawing the ninja penguin.

Be warned, this is a huge file. That's why I didn't embed it directly in the post.
What do you all think?

Could've easily been solved by getting something to scale it down.

Also, why Ubuntu?

He's a big fan of Ubuntu. Glad someone spotted the Ubuntu shuriken. Also, this was after cropping it and converting it to gray scale. The software I have is weird and uncooperative. The file was originally over 7 MB when I scanned it. Need to figure out ways to shrink them...

Not sure about the GIMP (which I assume you're using, given the Linux theme), but Photoshop has a wonderful "Save for web" feature. It's like magic - dithering, artifacting magic.

Well, in The GIMP there's "Scale Image" and in Photoshop there's "Image Size", which can be used to shrink it. Both do a far better job than any browser.

Oh, and I asked because, you see, I use Gentoo. And that means I'm required by law to look down on anyone admitting that they use Ubuntu.

You think you're so fancy with your -funroll-loops and your CFLAGS and your -O3. Well let me tell you this. Next time you're compiling X, or GNOME, or KDE, think of me and other less-crazy people who don't have to compile everything from source just to save a second of boot time.

My second time using Ubuntu I never had to compile anything. Well I didn't have to the first time either but I was feeling daring.

Yay Ubuntu.

I use Mac OS X and Ubuntu. 2 computers. My biggest complaint is not anything about my computers, but the really slow internet connection I have out here in the sticks. Verizon and Charter are both working on that, but I don't expect decent broadband to be available for a while yet.

the ninja penguin is a big fan of photoshop, and I would like to get that soon. My mother is getting another version, so she's going to let me use her license for the older version. Now the task is to get them to work together...Oh, yeah, and acquiring the program itself. That might be an important step.

I love it when people start talking about what operating system they use.

Oh wait, no I don't *shrugs*

It's an interesting picture in any case. :P

...Uh... Sorry? Was that a cry for help, or a declaration?
I know I was about ready to throw one of my computers out a window until I replaced Windows with Ubuntu. The main drawback is now I can't play some of my Windows games on it. Oh, well. That's why I want another even more powerful computer. But for that, I think I'd need another desk. This one is crowded enough already. Too bad the ninja penguin isn't the carpenter penguin so he could build one.

Well, the creepy one-eyed gargoyle cat is part pirate, so that's close enough. I'm thinking of drawing him as a pirate. But someone has suggested the ninja polar bear. Got an idea of how I want to do that. Now I'll discover whether or not I can draw polar bears.
