It's been surmised that Abe Lincoln wasn't popular in school. Maybe the hat has something to do with it. (Yes, there is a difference between a top hat and a stovepipe hat, but it's slight.)

Heh, what Ozy's missing though, is that unless the bully has a reason to stop, unless sometimes you *give* them a reason to stop, make them stop... if they have no reason to stop, they won't. Just accepting that is, well... it doesn't bode well for Ozy's future. Plus it looks like his hat got squished, heh, looking at the last panel.

Oh, I don't know. I personally never physically fought back against the Jeremys of my own youth, and it didn't lead to a future of being walked on by people.

(I had two reasons. One, I'm a pacifist by nature. Two, I would have lost the fight, which would have had the opposite of the effect I wanted.)

That's the thing. With very few exceptions, after school, bullies don't beat you up for your lunch money. It becomes much more psychological. And I'm much better equipped to fend them off on that turf (and much more capable of ignoring them if I choose).

So, yeah, I really do disagree with that old saw about how the only good way to deal with bullies is to punch back.

and ozy missed the point. its not about being invisible, its about minimizing your ability to be targeted. in whatever method is appropriate for the situation. the general purpose solution is to simply have enough, or a big enough, friend(s) that bullies wont even try.

While the strip was certainly thought provoking, I was most impressed by the first and last panels dynamic framing. That initial establishing shot is REALLY excellent. There is SO much information in one little panel, from the rear of the exiting bus to the texture of the clearly overgrown dirt road they're walking down. REALLY great, subtle work.

PLUS, they break with the standard, "side-scrolling" format comic strips (my own being NO exception) far too easily fall into the habit of using.
