That's actually not all that surprising, to be honest but I think it's down to where one lives.
In the little rural towns we have here in Wales, there are plenty of crafts shops which are literally filled with what one might consider to be 'doo-dads'. I love them because they sell a lot of hand-made things, and items by local companies and artists, so I occasionally walk into one and pick something up.
As far as I know, a 'doo-dads' store might be the American equivalent of one of those, but since I've never actually been into one, I honestly cannot say!
Well, that wasn't too much of a funny post in regards to the comic, but I felt I wanted to say it.

I probably have a few doo-dads lying around somewhere, but I don't know exactly what they are so I can't be sure D:

Wow. Ozy sure looks girly. Any newcomers to the strip are going to be a little confused when they start reading the archives.

Here in the US, we have another name for Doo-Dad shops: "tourist traps"...

Or, in some cases, plain old novelty shops, which simply sell shiny things for marked-up prices. Made in China, of course.

Ah, ye goode olde days, when one could head into town to check out the latest doo-dads and buy a new robe from Ye Gap.
EDIT: Oh hey, they've got a store called "Pants." That's full of awesome. Sounds almost like the kind of store that might be in Kris's mall. ^^

Heh, reminds me of a General Studies question 'To what extent have shopping malls such as Merry Hill had an effect on consumer behaviour?'
Thus showing Ozy and Millie tackle key problems in society!

Considering I live a 20 minute drive away from the Mall of America, for me going to the mall could mean going to The Park at MOA (Originally Camp Snoopy). I thought when I was younger that all malls were colossal buildings with four stories of the most diverse shops and a Theme Park in the middle.
Therefore, even the weirdest kids just casually go to the mall, because they could go to a weapons store and then a Theme Park.
