This is one case where the passive voice yields unfortunate results. Look carefully at Ms. Mudd's dialog, then at Millie's last sentence. Who's "they"? The girls?

Am I the only one surprised Ms. Mudd isn't worried about the fact her daughter's doing unspecified experiments?

Hey everyone, it's a newcomer!
*easily claims the first greeting*
Welcome to DC! Hope you have a good time here! My psychic readings tell me you recently turned 14, yes? In that case...
*serves belated birthday cake and ice cream.*

Well, I think the "for saying that to me" is pretty explanatory. Plus, I don't think it matters to Millie if thei're girls or not. Anyone telling her that will have worms in their food, and that's what it is.
So I think "they" is pretty much the best word here.

Tom, Millie already went on her search to figure out who "They" are.

The cabbage man from Avatar would be very sad if Millie did anything unspeakable to cabbages.

he would be sad by watching a movie. in my music engineering class a print-out on sound effects referred to the action one does to a cabbage to make a sword-stab sound as "molestation"
