So, is "Felicia and Avery" equivalent to "Ozy and Millie"?

That, bizarrely, is the feeling I'm getting from these past couple strips - Felicia dispensing wise advice to the impetuous Avery...

...

And, woah. This story line is both totally unexpected and crazily awesome. I'm fine with it ending here, but there's some major character development going on right now. It's strange, but I almost think that, when Ozy, Millie, Avery and Felica are in their 20's or 30's, they could be great friends, once they've all grown up a bit.

Also, 'not shutting up' *is* the main reason why people avoid him. If he learns to deal with that... he could actually be... interesting...

The evil equivalents, maybe.

It's 8) to see something more from Avery. He is my favourite secondary character.

Crazyness. Felicia is being not completely unkind.
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.

Interesting. Felicia's been showing glimpses of wisdom in the past few strips. But she's still got a long way to go to being completely sympathetic.

But still, it's an improvement.

She must prefer that to him doing nothing she says. Sayyy, maybe when they're older, he'll love her and she'll love... that. A so-called relationship with unequal power distribution.

This storyline is diverting my attention from Ozy and Millie!

Well, Felicia is kind of a complicated character for me. She's based heavily on a girl I absolutely hated in the sixth grade--she constantly made fun of me for not being cool, yadda yadda, you know the drill.

But, later, she and I were actually friends, when we were both on the debate team in high school (different high schools, so I only saw her at tournaments, but we had some great conversations there).

Which does not mean she wasn't a horrible catty little bitch in middle school--she was, later, the first to admit to me that she had been. But, kids act all sorts of ways for all sorts of reasons. It doesn't make them irredeemable.

Jeremy will probably never be redeemed. Few jocks are. But kids like Felicia, well, sometimes they grow up to be not-horrible.

Heh, especially once the realization that even Millie has a 'boyfriend', and she doesn't, hits her, her world-view might be a little shaken. :-P

I agree with everyone else that this is a great story arc. It's nice to see secondary characters take the stage for something more than just supporting a joke.

Most kids I hated in elementary school became my friends or at least on good terms with me. Most of the rest, I stopped seeing. I didn't see a connection between athleticism and redeemability, tho jocks had less in common with me.

I don't hate Felicia much anymore.

Also, my worst enemy from elementary school is now my best friend. That must be fairly common.

Well they'd probably be the anti-Ozy and Millie, seeing as how neither is evil.

I'd like to see Felicia "redeemed" way more than Jeremy. But maybe the last few strips are clouding my judgement.
