She has nothing to do with the plot. I suppose it's bad writing when I do this, but there have been other times when I've let an irrelevant character pop in for a single strip if it helps me write a gag.

Matt Groening once said that one of his goals when he designed the Simpsons was to create characters who are immediately recognizable in silhouette. The Ozy and Millie characters were designed with no such purpose in mind, and are nothing like as iconic, but I do think the occasional silhouette panel shows a similar recognizability.

Isolde is one of my favourite characters really, together with Millie, Lewellyn and to a lesser extent Stephan

I like how Isolde was in there, does it really need to be a relevant character?
If it's not it's more... realalistic.

I'm all for smacking people upside the head with tails. I wish I had one, just so I could smack people with it.

Yep, I'd be leaving plenty of tail imprints on people's heads too. Probably a good thing I don't have a tail, because I'm reasonably sure bashing people with a tail is against the law.
Depends what kind of tail.
I mean, how stupid would Jeremy look trying to swish his tail around.

Well, dragon tails seem the most effective, but they wouldn't look right on a human. We're primates, so we'd have monkey-like tails. Not very blunt, but I imagine with how thin they are that you could get a good stinging from a hit with them if you cracked it just right. I wouldn't know, I'm not trained in the art of tail combat.
