This may be my favorite O&M so far this year.

No wonder I prefer Spider-Man among (often-)solo superheroes. Batman is supposed to be brainy, but he's not quite nerd enough. And forget Daredevil or the Hulk.

It may also explain why I like the X-Men: they cover the entire jock-nerd spectrum. Maybe I'll learn to like the Fantastic Four; I understand they started out as scientists. As it is, I've had very little exposure to them.

Actually, I've found that a whole lot of modern popular entertainment contains the theme of oppressed nerds turning out to be cool: Spider-Man, X-Men, Harry Potter, The Matrix (OK, that one may be debatable)....

I think Millie is right, Luthor would have a good science fair project.

Maybe Ozy will become a superhero! Wait...That means he would have to fight Millie! OH NO!

It's ZEN KID versus WEATHER FOX!!!

Wait...how can the superheroes be men or women if everyone in the O&M world is ONLY animals!

Um, they're anthros (or animals or whatever you want to call them) but they're obviously either male or female. Millie is obviously a girl, Llewellyn is male and so forth. Just cause they're animals doesn't mean they forfeit gender differences.

And also...

Well, insects in the O&M world seem to be... Just insects... to me. So batman is clear. I've never seen a bat in the O&M universe, anthro or full-on-bat.

And I'm still more interested in working out what species all the actors who played the Doctor are...

<Injoke>Though David Tennant is probably a Weasle</injoke>

As for the strip. Freaking hillarious. Though there are reasons I have very little interest in the superhero genre, and this isn't really it (though, saying that, I'll watch batman movies, the Spiderman movies and the X-Men movies)... Actually, not sure what the reasons are... Superhero things tend towards boring me, however. In US non-web comics give me The Sandman, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, etc, as opposed to superhero comics and I'll be happy.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is argueably a superhero. With the power to kill mass quantities of people without anyone caring. Orrrrr not.

Anywho, Spiderman was always my favorite. Cause he was poor. Sure Batman can be a superhero cause he has money but Spiderman has to work for a living. And then get fired cause he was fighting crime.

And superman? He's just a godmoder and you know it.

1. Fantastic four, are the greatest Her team EVER! and yes they all started out as scientists

2. X-Men is also a good team but I think Gambit's the coolest, but one question, Is he hero or Villian?

3. Yeah... I wouldn't count matrix...

What about The Beast from X-men? He was a giant geek (a scientist I think) but he could kick some serious ass :wag:

Spiderman was always my favorite of those 3. He had the best movies, at least.

You have to figure that the target audience of comic books are nerds. Think about it in that light and Millie's theory has quite the paradox huh?

Really though it can go both ways. We like the nerdy heroes because they are just like us and give us inspriation. We like the "cool" heroes because it's a fantasy of what we wish we were.

...although personally I don't wish to have claws pop out of my hands. Friggin' ow.

What I meant was that I know that the characters have certain genders. But I was saying that man and women foremost applies to humans at least when I first thought of that statement.
