Actually, the real definition of "anthropomorphic" says that it is anything that acts, think, and behaves like a human. This includes animals, but is more commonly used for innanimate objects and gods. I don't really think Millie looks at herself as being anthropomorphic, since in the O&M world, animals ARE human.

And "I know," has to be the greatest response to "I'm weird," I've actually said similar things when people say things like that. In most furry, sci-fi, and other communities that I know, "human" and "person" are not synonyms. "Human" refers to a member of the species <i>Homo sapiens</i>, while a "person" is...well, this isn't perfect, but I'd say any life form with an appreciable intelligence or soul. It's almost like the operational Harry Potter distinction between "being" and "beast."<br><br>Humans have been mentioned only once in O&M, and that was an early strip addressing the readers directly from the beginning. The closest they have come to appearing in O&M was when Millie dreamed of meeting famous politicians in humanlike fairy form.<br><br>I would not have used the word "anthropomorphic" in the title of this strip. I'd have said something about personification instead.

Seems to be part of the way her mind works ("Look how good my vocabulary is for a ten-year-old!")

It very clearly is not. The second example is debatable. I would say that yes it is breaking the fourth wall. It has happened other times as well.<br><br>My point is not that Millie is addressing her anthropomorphic self in the universe of the strip but rather that she is referencing her anthropomorphic self in our universe through a construct that bridges the two. The first statement is very clearly wrong but Mr. Simpson has used similar uses to make points that are applicable to himself and what he does. Here is another example: <br><img src='http://www.ozyandmillie.org/2000/om20000626.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' /><br>I think this is a similar think. Millie is pointing out the nature of her anthropomorphic self relative to our universe by ascribing similar anthropomorphic characteristics to non-sentient things in her universe.<br>
