She's especially cute in the fourth panel.

At first I thought she was being sarcastic.

I wonder if DCS had Lisa Simpson in mind when he drew Millie sighing dreamily about school supplies.

Millie's just plain cute in the whole series.

But getting back to today's comic, I gotta say it can't be that unusal... Office Depot knows me well. Mmmm fresh sheets of bright white paper, a perfectly smooth plane of whiteness all the way to the edges.

Oh, and mechanical pencils!! I really appreciate pencils that have a tip that retracts as the lead is used; it protects the lead while reducing the need to click as often. Of course, technical pencils have that long MEHTUL point; I like that because it makes it easier to see what you're drawing without a lot of pencil in the way.

As for the erasers, it's true! Once they get used for a while, unless you can reshape the eraser, it's terribly difficult to get them to erase tiny mistakes without wiping out stuff all around it. Of course, when it comes to erasing large areas, the perfect curvature for those erasers is right when they're partially used, they get this oblique rounded edge that is angled perfectly with your hand. Hm.. I should consider doing an eraser swap with a right-handed person sometime. That eraser might be perfect for erasing small areas again.

Ooh! Have any of you experienced the wonder of clipboards with storage? *purrs* Oh, that's been a real lifesaver in classes with inadequate desks... Erm... But really, Millie does have a point here.

Regarding misshapen erasers:
Whenever I have an eraser that gets to an undesireable shape, I just take a knife to it an reshape it roughly what I want it to be. Then, I simply rub it vigorously over a blank piece of paper to smooth it off. Repeat until it's too small to hold.

Of course, that's not too much of a problem if you can find a good eraser shield, but I can't seem to find any nearby that are a good size or not bundled with a pencil and drafting triangles.

Mmm . . . drafting supplies.

I always hated August. You've been enjoying the holidays for weeks and then you go to town and see posters for "BACK TO SCHOOL" sales and it's like being hit with a big steaming lump of reality.

LOL, this strip reminded me so much of those Staples commercials a few years back with the "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" Christmas Jingle.

I hate to admit it, but that was some advertising genius...

A reminder for all who have not completed their school shopping: don't buy pencils with green erasers. They blacken the page.

August has always been my least favorite month of the year. It's way too hot (100 degrees with humidity-ish), nothing interesting is going on, school normally starts around hear in EARLY August, and then there's the whole shopping for school supplies thing.
