Esmeralda is a name associated with Romany-style fortune tellers with crystal balls. I can see the connection to whatever one considers lucky: it seems to pick the most fortunate path in advance.

I wonder if I should consider myself lucky for never having recognized lucky underpants.

Wait. I thought we already established that Millie doesn't wear underpants? Maybe she saves them for special occasions.

Five things (Three sir!) Three things:

1.) I have newfound respect for Ms. Mudd's ability to manage Millie.

2.) I have come to the conclusion that Millie's oddity knows no bounds

and

3.) Millie really likes the name Esmerelda.

Maybe that was just the first embarrassing thing to come to mind, possibly due to recency. Besides, it's a continuing thing, not something Millie did only in the past.

Why didn't Esmerelda show this one coming?
The end is nigh!

Obviously Esmerelda knew! But she knew Millie would back down to this and didn't have to worry about her existence being exposed! Bow to Esmerelda mortals!
