I Hate Food would work on her... nice strip. Good to see that the increased quantity isn't reducing quality.

Total avoidance of carbohydrates (a keytonic diet) has been the diet craze for the last year, but it's finally been recognized by major dietitians over the past holiday seasons.

The theory is that if the body doesn't have carbohydrates, it will fully consume the fat that is eaten, into keytones, instead of just breaking it down to lipids, and than rebuilding from the lipids. It was originally prescribed for diabetics, and those with certain carbohydrate related seizure disorders, but several doctors noted weight loss unrelated to the disorders. However, like any diet intended to alter metabolism, it only works on people who's metabolism it favors. Some people will actually get the reverse effect, or simply end up starving themselves because they can't figure out what to eat.

I personally go for a low-sugar, high protine diet, and disregard other carbohydrate intake unless it is excessive, or consists of "processed" starches, such as white bread. I also try my best to keep a balanced amount of vegetables and fruits. However, all to often you'll see me chowing down on a bag of potato chips just like any American.

Thnks for the input on carbs. As with every strange word used in O&M, the dictionary wasn't helpful

In my opinion, all these diet crazes are stupid. If you want to lose weight, simply burn more calories than you consume. Theres 2 ways to do that. Either exercise enough to burn off the carbs you've eaten, or don't eat too many carbs. I'd say the first choice is the optimal one.

And the last thing you should do is starve yourself. Your body will go into a survival mode, and the instant you start eating anything again your body will immideately convert everything it can into fat to help you survive if you are 'starved' again.

Me, I don't care what I eat, and I sit on the couch all day playing video games. And I don't gain a pound. I guess I am blessed with a high metabolism.

I like this story arc too. Keep goin DCS.

It's a funny old diet, really. Dr Atkins died clinically obese, but my uncle's tried it and he's lost loads
