For me cartoons are different to books. As someone with a very short attention span, cartoons give me fiction in short bursts. But with books, after a while I begin to think like "That could never happen" and stuff, and as such I suffer when I read books like Harry Potter.

I have, by the way, read the first two...but by about half way throught the second one I felt like bludgeoning myself to death with the book. The characters are wooden, the style is childish and the subject matter is about something that I really couldn't care less about.

Magic and wizards? Not for me. Give me a decent war novel any day.

Films are different as you don't have to think too hard. You have to commit to a book, and if you don't begin to like it then forcing your way through it isn't going to make it grow on you.

But then what do I know, I flunked English and I hate Shakespear.

Er, not that I want you to be unhappy, but I welcome support from the cartoonist.

I do think that phony spoilers can be fun, particularly when they're ridiculous. Hey, wasn't it shocking when Aragorn kissed Legolas?

Someone told me the end to War of the Worlds, but as nearly every science fiction fan ever has known the ending since they were about 7, it wasn't a real shocker.

The ones that really got my goatee were when people ruined the endings to M Night Shymanlan's films for me. The only one that didn't get ruined was "The Village", and that's because I was a the UK premier.

I think the one for the "Sixth Sense" went like this. We were watching it and my mate's girlfriend said "We havn't seen a single ghost yet", to which he replied "Theres one there" and pointed at Bruce Willis.

Needless to say, he was dog-piled on.

As I said, "What do I know, I flunked English and I hate Shakespeare".

Culture to me is using a coaster.

But that's not to say that I don't read. I read fiction, but I have to be intrested in the story beforehand and Wizards and Magic do nothing for me. I like spy novels and Science Fiction novels. I read all of Arthur C Clarke's 2001 series in a weekend. My favourite book is Hitchhiker's Guide. I love war novels, and I am an avid reader of anything by Dan Abnett.

I'd much rather read about a squad of soldiers behind enemy lines, or a group of astronauts on an abandoned alien craft, or London being invaded by aliens than some kids at a school for wizards anyday.

Something tells me you might enjoy all the spoof spoilers collected in this thread.

(Hover your mouse over the black bars to reveal the "spoilers". Can you guess all the references?)

Clarke)

"I CAN'T SQUOOSH CHARLOTTE!!"
