(I've merged the two topics about this strip -5hfifty)

The real trick to life is another one of those strips that tackles philosophical ideas (I think that is the theme this week, for those that are trying to predict them now) while using the woods as the setting for their journeys with no particular destination.

I rather prefer the simplified yet visually complex visuals nature walking provides versus the wagon or toboggan-riding that makes everything around them blur by. It follows well with the philosophy that the natural world is something to be respected and appreciated, which is consistent with the many strips in which the characters are seen sitting on a hill admiring the northwestern landscape. It also reminds me of the saying that the journey is at least as important as the destination.

Which I guess is true.

I just think the way I drew walking improved greatly over the years. Though it's probably not the most interesting thing for them to have been doing in this strip. Calvin and Hobbes would have been rocketing down the hill in their wagon while they had a conversation like this. Would that I could think of some similar gag for spicing up talkier strips. Then again, the idea that Ozy and Millie go for walks through the woods and talk about life strikes me as kind of charming.

If memory serves, I wrote and penciled this one on an airplane.

Done!
does it help any visualy?

For some odd reason, the altered strip makes them look streched out or fatter or something. It's well done, though, Sabre.

I do agree that the atmosphere around you likely will have some effect on the content on your workings.

Until next time remember...

I AM DOCTOR FRED

[warp]

hm, that just doesn't look good on me.

i disagree. i like it the first way better. The only reason why it may look better visually is because its read from left to right... thats not always a good reason to do something. Personally, for whatever reason, i do prefer the origional greatly. It flows better in my view. Oh well, its all personal preference here.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

It's like a bizzaro Dave Simpson made that strip in some mirror land. I have the suspicion that the strip wouldn't look the same as the altered strip even if Mr. Simpson drew them walking from left to right.
