Hmmm, that seems a bit much. I would be shocked if she didn't try to do SOMETHING though.Show of hands here, folks...
How many people think Millie's mom is going to sue?

"Like a post modern Peanuts with cat eared girls...kinda"
I have been disappointed in some strips lately (particularly ones with Lewellyn) and the other day I did feel irritated. On the other hand I do feel it is my duty to put my faith in the author. I just have this feeling that it isn't going to end like this. That at very least Jeremy will stop picking on Ozy or something like that.
If not, well yeah I'll be let down. But I'm gonna at least see how it pans out.

I experience this kind of thing pretty much weekly at school!
If it's any consolation, this happened BEFORE the No Child Left Behind act. Mostly it's because of Columbine. People heard that the shooters had been bullied; the bullied and outcasts were expelled on that basis alone for a while in Colorado. A Zero-Tolerance policy on fighting was created, and was quickly dubbed the Zero-Intelligence policy. Students are taken to court for assault whenever they get into a fight (or get beaten up) in middle to high school.
At least in Denver Public Schools. And also Jefferson County.

I disagree. For Ms. Sorkowitz to ignore Jeremy's bullying when she saw it would be against the rules, and she firmly favors the rules. That's her failing, really; if the rules were all fair, we wouldn't mind her at all.Whether or not Ms. Sorkowitz actually saw Jeremy harass Millie probably wouldn't change a thing.
See other much-maligned creatures in my webcomic: http://downscale.comicgenesis.com
I think Ms. Sorkowitz doesn't adhere to the whole approach to bullies we've seen in Ozy and Millie as much as Beau Vine does. She's not exacly on the side of the more introspective children but she does try to keep to the book. She also has personal experience with Millie, not just from being her teacher but all the various stuff Millie's brought upon her over the years.
Hmm, I suppose you guys are right about Ms. Sorkowitz. Maybe I ow her an apology.
I sure hope she's following the rules the way she should. I thought I detected some sarcasm in those "I can only punish offenses I actually see occur." statements she made, though.
Perhaps my own bias against public school teachers made me judge her unfairly. Either way, I still think the current storyline is good, and I can't help but feel bad for Millie.

Ms. Sorkowitz is the Ms. Wormwood of Ozy and Millie - strict at times but she doesn't come off as a liar to me, so I didn't think she was being sarcastic when she said "I can only punish offenses I actually see occur." Of course maybe this storyline will bring new elements to her character yet.
Also, maybe it's because how weird it would look to what we're normally used to (even in a world of anthros) but imagining Ms. Sorkowitz hop along like that is still making me chuckle.

Hehehe, yeah, me too. Any time I'm reminded of the fact that they're actually animals, it usually makes me giggle. Like, seeing Millie on all fours while growling. Also, maybe it's because how weird it would look to what we're normally used to (even in a world of anthros) but imagining Ms. Sorkowitz hop along like that is still making me chuckle.
