Though opinions on this subject may diverge, I like to interpret that as a true "friendship" kind of love that Millie and Ozy share. I've always seen them this way, and it just feels right to me. But that's just my own view about the situation.
That's the way I feel about it too. I mean, they're ten, and while I don't doubt that love is possible at that stage, given the characters we're talking about I'd say it's more of a deep-rooted friendship between the two. Regardless, it still makes an awesome scene.

This isn't the first time something like this has been drawn (In Memoriam, Lakeside Line Art, January Keenspot newsbox), but the whole "dream" context of this one makes it undeniably sweet.

On a side note, I'm loving the signed print of In Memoriam I ordered.

The strip doesn't provide any new insight into their relationship. We already knew they were about as close as two can get without being on kissing terms (that one kiss Millie gave Ozy to prove he wasn't her boyfriend doesn't count). Still, I rather hope -- tho do not anticipate -- that the dream continues on Monday.
I have melted into a puddle of AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW :wag:
I read that line earlier today, for the first time ever, on CuteOverload. Was that you, too?

My mom emailed me this:
I cut out the right half of the final panel of the Ozy & Millie #1 dream strip and stuck it up on the bulletin board above my computer monitor, right next to the "I don't sleep, I dream" strip with O & L and the big Z. I love those guys. In a funny kind of way, those panels help me keep perspective at work.

Mr. Simpson, if only for today, this strip has lifted me out of my mood. Thank you.

You see, when I saw "looks awesome", it's not a request.

Not very surprising, but still cute.

It could be as simple as this: they're just good friends. Good friends can tend to be huggy.

Millie really cares about Ozy. Her number one dream in frequency et cetera could just be spending time with her friend.
This is kinda like me with my Friend Renae. We're jsut good friends, but people have said we'd make the best couple. Are response? We love each other like Brother and Sister. That kind of Love, and that's the love Millie might feel for Ozy. Not Love in a Romantic way, but Love in the way a Sister loves a Brother.

I thought this strip was adorable.

And from an analytic viewpoint of DCS' art style, it most certainly reminds me of the second panel from http://ozyandmillie.org/d/20061025.html

Love in the way a Sister loves a Brother.
That comparison has never sat well with me, for the simple reason that so many siblings hardly stand each other. Ozy and Millie are rarely in conflict.

Many siblings are raised poorly. :(

Hey, I may not like my brother but I love him. Its mandatory. I think he would be my best friend if he wasn't my brother.

Many siblings are raised poorly. :(
It's not even a question of that. I think, all told, my two siblings and I were raised pretty well. And we all like each other fine.

But yes, we argued a lot as kids. And, I don't think we would be friends if we weren't related. We just don't have anything in common. My sister is a religious conservative housewife. My brother is a wold-traveling, athletic medical school student. I, of course, am a reclusive misanthropic artist type. Nothing wrong with any of that, but we're three very different people.

In the case of a friendship like Ozy and Millie's, when people say they love each other like siblings, I think that's accurate, but that isn't to say they act towards each other exactly as blood siblings would. Siblings act all sorts of different ways toward each other, depending on their individual personalities and any number of other factors. It means something else--there's a kind of friendship where someone really is like family, to you, the bond is that close. There are numerous people in my own life I think of as family in that sense.

There's the family you get stuck with and the family you choose, and sometimes those overlap, but in any case it's mostly a good thing.

Nice work on the night, but I think you've made it a bit too dark in the 3rd panel. :P
