In <a href='http://www.ozyandmillie.org/2003/om20031220.html' target='_blank'>The Attic</a>, we are given yet another glimpse into the influential past Llewellyn possesses, as well as learn the location of Llewellyn's stashed treasure. The hoarding of treasure is one of the more often cited behaviors of European dragons in medieval lore, and I think Simpson has done well to express that here as well. Naturally, why should we have expected any less? Being a creature of myth and legend among mammals and, well, other normal animals, Llewellyn naturally stands out, and his possessions reflect that. Historians and the pursuers of triviality would definitely not be disappointed if they were ever to encounter the artifacts held in Llewellyn's attic.<br><br>Then again, the value of something can also be found in its rarity and sentiment. While the attic would be very valuable to a total stranger, this would probably not be anything more to Llewellyn than the stuff we keep in attics and garages are to us.<br>A signed guitar given to Llewellyn by Jimi (Hendrick?) would likely be to Llewellyn what a handmade Christmas ornament would be to us, an item that is stashed away with the other decorations after the holiday season has settled down. It is truly mind-boggling.<br><br>There is also the matter of the things children value, and I regret I have not given it anough discussion here. As a kid, just the right kind of seemingly ordinary stuff just might be personally worth a lot more than the contents of Llewellyn's entire estate.

I though it was interesting that Llewelyn said her only ran for prez in 1968, yet there's a newspaper hinting he ran in the 1940's. Second, it's Hendrix, not Hendrick (sorry, but I play some guitar, so I have to point these things out). Third, I'd go for the report card, too.

I apologize in advance for this little bit of nit picking. I happen to be a huge Hendrix fan.<br><br>hmmm, judging by the way the guitar is drawn I think it may have been drawn backwards. Hendrix is known for stringing a right handed Fender Strat backwards and then playing it left handed. If the stings on the guitar are on the side facing Ozy (I think they are since there are no pickups or anything shown on the signed side) then it is indeed backwards. However I could easily be wrong.<br><br>Otherwise a great comic which adds some great background detail to an already excellent character.

I find it strange that Llewellyn saved that newspaper.<br>I know it's a joke on a real situation where that other guy (whose name i've forgotten) was said in newspapers to have defeated Truman in the presidential race but actually didn't. I read that that was the first vote that was calculated by the then avaible computers to find out which canditate would win. The computers replied Truman but everyone was skeptical and cynical that he'd win so they thought the computer got it wrong. It didn't.<br><br>Anyway could Llewellyn have been proud of this achievement then, he wasn't very enthusiastic in the last race. Was he like that back in that age? Perhaps the newspaper was kept for simply sentimental value? Whatever it was, i found it a little strange Llewellyn would do that, though the joke was funny.<br>And maybe that's all it was, a huge dragon conspiracy. Maybe the dragons built the computers but the ignorant mammals (remember Simpson hinted that reptiles were persecuted back then) didn't believe them? If this was a consiparcy maybe it would explain why Llewellyn said he only ran once before in '68.

I know. The paper it's based off of was a 1940's Chicago Tribune (I think it was CT) that pre-empitively printed "Dewey Defeats Truman." I was letting everyone know where the gag came from.
