I recently asked David, via his live journal, if he would be at all adverse to there being a large-scale get-together specifically for fans of Ozy and Millie.

He said he wouldn't mind!

So I'm thinking maybe we should give something like this a whirl!

It wouldn't be anything grand, of course, just an excuse for a modest crowd of people to meet up at some Tacoma motel with for 2 or 3 days and goof around.

The only problem is, I'm not sure what the proper way of going about something like this is. For example, how do you decide on time and venue, and how do you get the necessary finances, and other such things?

In the meantime, I have come up with some events that might be fun;

Opening Ceremony: Raising the flag of Greater Llewellynland and singing Llewellynland's national anthem (The "Oscar Meyer Weiner" song played on a chorus of kazoos)

Dealer's Den: A place to meet and greet your fellow "OMbodies" while trading books, artwork, craftwork, collectibles and personal philosophies.

Waffle Social: A morning waffle feast, as opposed to the more conventional (pun intended in full consent of will) evening ice-cream feast. Simpson himself!

Film Room: Come and watch your favorite TV Shows and Movies! Including... Yellow Submarine... Red Dwarf... Black Adder... Mystery Science Theatre 3000... Harry Potter... and the ever-popular MUCH, MUCH MORE!

Extreme Pictionary Challenge: Think Pictionary was tough before? Imagine doing it blindfolded! Or with your drawing hand tied behind your back! Or while having asparagus thrown at you! These and many more challenges await those souls brave (or stupid) enough to take the challenge!

Anyway, those are a few ideas, but of course we're always open to more suggestio-...

[Notices a tiny racoon child tugging on his sleeve, and leans over to let the child whisper in his ear]

Uhhh... Whereas I'm in the UK and relatively broke. Which presents a 'small' problem

I weigh over 260 so it might be a bit expensive.

Edit: The USPS does not allow anything over 70 pounds. So get to dieting people!

Edit Deux: A cubic foot, 70 pound package from Boston to Tacoma costs at least $23 dollars

Well, if I had the time and money I'd do it. Of course, right now I definately don't have the money, but I wouldn't rule it out if it was later in the year, perhaps between Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I wouldn't be able to go because of school and work. Unless it was in late 2005 after I graduate.

This is a very ambitious idea, and I don't want to throw cold water on it . . .

But, you might want to try to do something a little easier to get going, like a web video conference, or some other telepresence idea to start out with.

I know the goal is "face time", meeting each other in person. It sounds like many people are going to have trouble getting there because we are so spread out.

I know, I have several excuses to go to the West Coast already, including family and college reunions.

That sounds AWESOME!
Except I have ABSOLUTELY NO MONEY, probably won't have any for years, and my parents would never pay for the trip.
Hmm... maybe I can mail myself.

Or, perhaps we could try to organize an O&M fans panel or something at a larger convention. Let someone else handle the convention logistics, we just show up and have fun. Plus, that way we could get discounts at hotels.

Also, where the heck is Tacoma? It sounds vaguely familiar, is it in Florida?

Hah! Not at all what I had in mind (I pictured doing this at a furry con, or possible an anime/sci-fi con), but that'd be fun! I love messing with such people
