I chose drawing, because he has trouble with stories (and says so), but I can't think of anything he has trouble drawing anymore.

I voted for writing after pondering this for a few minutes. While individual storylines vary quite a bit, character development also falls under "writing", and this is something that he does very well.
The drawing is good, it's just less noticeable, and not the main focus of the strip, in my opinion.
