There is one actor who has made a career out of playing characters, like Llewellyn, who are, while not at all dangerous or insane, definately have a rather skewed and unusual outlook on life and the world in which one lives it, and has a distinctive voice which reflects that, as well.

Gene Wilder.

Any comments?

IMDB's entry for Gene Wilder. Wait, they're making an "Over the Hedge" movie?

You could've just said Willy Wonka. :P

I don't really see, or hear Llewellyn sounding like him myself...

How long ago was willy wonka? Isn't he dead by now?
(well, I also thought the same thing about Bill Waterson, but according to DC's livejournal, he's just hiding in ohio. this was unrelated except for the fact that I have made this mistake before and am telling you and that is why i am using parenthesees.)

That IMDB link should answer all of your questions, iyestorm. At first, I didn't like the idea of Gene Wilder's voice either, but I'm starting to come around. He has that boyish charm I usually associate with Llewellyn.

*slaps the backs of everyone's heads (except Imawaffle's)* None of you knew who Gene Wilder is?! Do the words Blazing Sadles and Young Frankenstein mean nothing to you!? And of course he's still alive, iyestorm! He just won a minor Emmy last year for his guestshot on "Will and Grace" as Will's nutso boss.

[grumble]You could've just said Willy Wonka. [/grumble]

Sorry, I get a little emotional when the youth of today knows nothing of our great comic ancestors. Once I freaked out when, during a conversation about Monty Python, my friend said "I don't even know who Monty Python is" Yeesh!

Hey! I know who Gene Wilder is! And I think Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein are hilarious. Pity Mel Brooks can't make movies like that anymore. But I digress......

I think Gene Wilder would make an excellent Llewellyn.
If Llewellyn were to get a voice, I think Kelsey Grammer would be perfect for that. I always think of Llewellyn sounding somewhat like Sideshow Bob.

EDIT: You know who else would be good? The guy who did the voice for Pawtucket Pat in the Family Guy episode "Wasted Talent."

EDIT EDIT: Or maybe the guy who does the voice for Stewie.

I've always pictured Kevin Kline as the voice of Llewellyn. His cool, serene voice is ideal to be telling his tall tales and would go so well in Llewellyn's odd personality mixture of wise and all-knowing versus full-of-it and loony.

Quote:

ROFLMTO

Translation?
