OMify Green Day!

As some long-time board members will know, "Minority" by Green Day is considered the unofficial theme song to the non-existent O&M animated series.

There was even a brainstorming of ideas of what the opening sequence, set to said tune, would consist of.

It is in that spirit that I share the following thought and question...

Imagine if you will, during the instrumental coda in the middle of "Green Day" Millie runs into a recording studio, chased by Ozy (who wants his hat back), where the boys from East Bay are trying to record the song live (with some difficulty as two fox children are running around, Millie even disguising herself for a few seconds as drummer Tré Cool to hide from Ozy).

So, here's your chance to share your thoughts, what animals would you make Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, lead vocals), Mike Dirnt (bass, back up vocals) and Tré Cool (drums)?

I'm thinking raccoon for Billie. The others I'm not sure about.

Forget making them into animals, it be more productive to make them into a better band.

Hmm... I just downloaded this song.

I don't think it would make a good animated series theme if only because it uses the f word. :P Not the sort of thing you want on Saturday morning TV.

I guess the song's theme in general could fit Ozy and Millie (fits her slightly better).

anyway they could change the f word for something else, songs are always edited when converted into themes. I think it fits perfectly for an animated series.

Despite Green Day being one of my top 3 favorite bands/singer of all time (the other two being Queen and "Weird Al" Yankovic) - I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. I mean, there's a lot you'd have to edit out, as has been said, like "f*** 'em all." Plus, there's the whole first few lines:

"I pledge allegiance to the underworld,
One nation under dog there of which I stand alone..."

....somehow I don't think "Ozy and Millie!" when I hear lines like that.

Other than that the song would work pretty well. I just hate to hear songs edited.

well, since it's a theme song, which would legally have to be 30 seconds max if you put it in the OM animations, you could just do the chorus. Maybe the chorus, the bridge, the chorus again? I could see one of those, kinda.
I want to be the minority.
I don't need your authority.
Down with the moral majority
'cause I want to be the minority

Stepped out of the line
Like a sheep runs from the herd
Marching out of time
To my own beat now
The only way I know

I want to be the minority.
I don't need your authority.
Down with the moral majority
'cause I want to be the minority

I've always thought that Faction by Less Than Jake would make a great theme song for Ozy and Millie, though it might just be me.

And I
I wonder if you'd understand
if I said I'll never go never go along again
And if I told you all that I believe in
and gave you my reasons and always had an answer
an honest answer for all of them
sometimes you just want to belong
at any loss or any cost
yeah I've
I've made mistakes before
but I just can't seem to remember them anymore
and I've followed everyone's lead before
and I've made my own decisions
and I've never felt so strong before
I've never felt so strong before
sometimes you just want to belong
at any loss or any cost
sometimes your best defense is a good reminder
of your common sense
strike a match and hope it lasts
here's to following your own lead
it's the path that I have taken
after all the contemplation
it's the promise I have made
I hope it lasts

There's only really one song that would be appropriate to O&M, one which I don't believe exists. And one which can be explained in four words:

Zen Buddhists with flamethrowers.

I WILL NOT LET THAT DREAM DIE!!!!!!!!

Ehem... anyway, I actually think something more of a Smash Mouth song would fit. Specifically, something Like Hang on.

Verse 1:
Things are getting weird, things are getting tough,
Nothings making sense but you keep on looking up
They'll tell you to be true, they'll try it everyday
To keep it on the real still you got to find a way
So make your mamma happy, to make your pappa proud
You'll wanna turn it up and all you hear is turn it down

Bridge:
So gather round I'm here to say
They'll never make everybody's day
But while you're around you might as well, catch the tiger by it's tail

Chorus:
And hang on hang on hang on
Everybody just get on get on get on
Get started and go on go on go on
Everybody just hold on

Verse 2:
Sometimes I wanna cry, and throw the towel in
They try to beat me down but i'll take it on the chin
and everywhere i go the people all the same
and they just wanna know that everything will be ok
when things are getting rough you'll turn it back around
you gotta turn it up when they tell you turn it down.

(Bridge)

And hang on hang on hang on
Everybody just get on get on get on
Get started and go on go on go on
Everybody just hold on
Just hang on

(Bridge)

(Chorus X2)

I guess one of the requirements for the song is that it has to be a bad song by a bad band
