The Old Mural

Postby Dr. Dos » Tue Apr 25, 2006 11:45 pm

Come on now I barely even post here these days.
The experience of reliving college, incidentally, reminds me that I got an e-mail recently from a slightly surprised fan who is a current Evergreen student, asking me about a mural in the stairwell of C Dorm that has an early version of Ozy and Millie (as they appeared in 1998) descending the stairs along with various other cartoon characters. He asked if I was perhaps responsible.

Well, yes I was. I painted that mural along with a bunch of other residents. If there are any Greeners reading this journal--C dorm, stairwell between floors 2 and 3.

More shots are here. I was responsible for Ozy and Millie, Calvin, Hobbes, Tigger, and Homer and Lisa Simpson (made a point of getting Lisa in there--I think most people would have painted Bart).
I think it's neat. I always did like the old style.

Hey, that's pretty cool.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

I tried it at home when I was younger. Ended with me getting arrested for vandalism.

Vandalism? I mean, it was spraypainting on the fricking skate park! Oh no, someone painted on the skate ramp! call Interpol!

/me gets a restraining order on Rooster for the purpose on keeping him away from any paintable surfaces belonging to The MAZZTer.

Seriously though, think of it this way... if you donated or otherwise provided a skate park for public use, would YOU want [other] people spraypainting stuff on it (good quality or bad)?

Bah, it's a skate part. That's like, what spray paint was born to paint.

Me, I want DCS to paint my house! :D

THAT WOULD RULE.

I also liked the old style. It gave them a more, childish look. It's a different kind of cute. Actually, I classify the current style as "Cute" and the 98 style as "Cutesy."

Well that will become an instant Liberal-American classic
It's been around long enough that if it isn't already a classic, it never will be an instant classic.

But whether it is or not, it's certainly deserving.
