I was just thinking about what if O&M had a spinoff. A) Is it necessary? B) What would it be about?

I'm don't think it's neccessary be needed, nor do I think it will happen (for we all know that the two are very different beasts)

In the tradition of spin-offs it would probably either take one or two popular characters and be designed around them (while the same broad points would presumably be made due to having the same author, using any one or two different characters as the perspective characters would neccessarially cause some of the individual issues to either be raised in a different sort of way, or different individual issues to be raised, also the sort of humour would presumably neccessitate being different), or would be O&M at a different point in their lives, presumably the O&M in highschool thing that was pandered as a possability to make up for the lack of strips had there have been a 2005.

As for the possabilities I can see as being potentially interesting as character based spin-offs...

Locke, Timulty, Avery, Stephan or Avery and Stephan.

Of which I highly doubt the potential of a Locke based or a Timulty based.

I don't think it's necessary or will be done but a Moby Dick like tale set in Locke's world would be great.

Another lyrical extra for the next book may be in the works...

I just don't think an O&M spinoff would be, erm, any good, like most Spinoffs. (Except for amazing ones like Frasier).

A good spinoff would be Ozy living in a city apartment with a hot chick and a gay guy as flatmates. It'll be called "That's Our Ozy"

I hate to get off topic, but I just noticed that Alistair, Llew's cousin and pizzy-delivery guy, looks like he's from the comic strip, Doonesbury.

I think DCS mentioned hes based on the guy from Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which is a shared inspiration for that Doonesbury charecter. Duke?

Right, Duke. And whether or not DCS has explicitly given Alistair as a Thompson impersonator, there was that "Fear and Loathing"-themed piece of stand-alone artwork.

Well, maybe there could be some O&M spinoff, using some little obscure character that may have appeared in the background of one or two strips, and somehow cameo main characters in the background, like the bird in the caulk play happening to be holding some sort of meeting in a treehouse while Ozy and Millie are walking through the woods in the background.

My choice is Isolde going to school and her adventures there!
