I had seriously contemplated filling in the gap with a "greatest hits" annotated book, and I'd really love to do one some day, but...somehow that sort of feels like something I should do when I'm done, or at least winding down, and of course I'm really not there yet.

Whats your take on this? I'd love one.

Heck, I'd love an annotated 'script' book without any actual strips in it. (a bit like audio comentaries on dvds, where the people doing the commentary react to things that's said in the production despite you not being able to hear the line being commented on being said, but because it will be a book on other books/strips, we'll be able to quickly check if DCS comments on any of the art.

By 'script book' I mean panel by panel dialogue and what cast members are in it, with panel by panel comments.

But then, I'd also love a cartoon series. What I love and what I expect to happen aren't always the same thing.

But then, three years ago I'd have made that comment after "I'd love a new series of Doctor Who to be made", and look at what's happened since then. A new 13*45min series was made, with two more 13*45min serieses and two 1*60min specials already commissioned. So, as far as I'm concerned about entertainment at the moment, anything could happen given time.

If enough people want it then theres a strong chance it could happen. Especially if the author's already expressed interest in doing a greatest hits book.

From what I've seen commentary by the author is highly valued. I actually looked forward to the reran strips after a while because of the commentary provided. On another webcomic the author promised commentary during a donation drive and got pretty remarkable results.

Its why people read auto-biographies. They want to know the "what were you thinking?" of famous people.

OH! A script book! Like with stage direction type actions in parentheses or something. ... Hm... That makes more sense for a tv show then for a comic.

Perhaps he could make it like the Calvin and Hobbes 10th Anniversary book.

The C&H 10th Anniversary book was my favorite of all the C&H books simply because of Bill Watterson's commentary.

I'd buy it too if I had money; which I'm almost positive I won't. =(
