Define Cynical Fan Forums

I hate to be hogging the spotlight, but you see, I'm something of an amatuer voice-over artist. My dream is to one day do professional voice-overs for animation, but for now, I'm sticking to radio commercials here in Las Vegas.<br><br>To that end, I thought it might be fun to record a bit of a VO demo, trying my hand at doing voices for some O&M characters.<br><br>Since I'm not all that good at (natural sounding) children's voices, I figured I should stick to adult males. And, wouldn't you know, the lead adult male in O&M just HAPPENS to be Dave's favorite character.<br><br>Anyway, I'm hoping you fellas here might be able to help me out by suggesting a few lines I could read, one's which best exemplify Llewellyn's character, and express different sides of him (emotions, attitudes, etc.)<br><br>Now, keep in mind, this won't be the BEST of recordings. I'll just be using the "Cakewalk" application on my laptop. Still, I'll give it my best, and if David approves of the final product (I'll e-mail it to him when I'm done), I'll be glad to post it here.<br><br>It might be good for a few chuckles, if nothing else.

Do you have a page you could link us to with samples of your voice talent?<br><br>Also, if you want a better sound recording/editing application, you can install the freeware (and very powerful) <a href='http://audacity.sourceforge.net/' target='_blank'>Audacity</a>. Cakewalk is a MIDI sequencing program, is it not?<br><br>(EDIT: Sometimes the page barfs back a weird error when you click the link. Just refresh it once or twice, and it should be fine.)

Gee, kinda makes me wish I could hear some of them. But that would necessitate some of the links actually WORKING, wouldn't it?

Hm, i was busy trying to figure out how to say "Llew-Llew"; i tried saying somethin like "luh-wuh" in one syllable, until I actually remembered the first syllable in Llewellyn is "loo" X_X As for the voice acting, it seems like fun, I might try soon <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... iggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

So you end up with "hclh"...<br><br>So the way DCS spells it with two double-l's (which I'm guessing is the form it's mutated into in America), you end up with "Hclhewehclhyn". Though having said that, the original Welsh form only has one double-l ("Llewelyn"), so it becomes the less silly "Hclhewelyn"<br><br>

In Irish mythology there is a deity called Lugh, whose Welsh counterpart was Llew. Both are similar (kind of how Roman and Greek deities are). They were associated with the sun and Lugh means "light". Their most prominent features are a golden spear to represent the sun's rays and shape-shifting. There was a quarter day festival in Ireland called Lughnasadh where games (probably parcheesi tournaments) and races were held.
