I know that this comic is not "Kevin and Kell", or "21st Century Fox", but what is the predation status in this comic? Is there such a thing as "weasel gravy" in this comic? Does Millie eat her food "raw"? Does she like the taste of "Kentucky Live Chicken"?

I can just imagine Ozy and Millie, as teenagers, being fed up with Felicia and Jeremy that they have them both for dinner

Zacatepngolas!

Until next time, remember:

I

AM

THE

J.A.M.

Good evening.

[WARP!!!]
I'm not sure where, but I think in one of his essays DC Simpson mentioned this. Let me see if I can find it...

Huh. These essays seem to have dissappeared?

Anyway, I think he said something about not wanting to get into that whole thing. I don't think the strip will ever cover it, or at least that's what I recall.

Where have those essays gone?

He used to have an essay posted on his old sight that dealt with this issue, but there's no link to his other writings anymore.

Aaaand, here is the specific link.

http://www.ozyandmillie.org/words23.htm ... r>
Have fun!

...But, if you're too lazy to read it all, this is where DC sums it up:

Quote:

All this leaves entirely unanswered the question of what exactly the foxes (and other carnivorous creatures) in Ozy and Millie eat. Presumably all the dynamics of the food chain are out the window. I am neither inclined to have characters in Ozy and Millie eating meat, nor interested enough in world-building for its own sake to concoct an elaborately explained alternative system. Anyway, the question isn't asked all that often, comparatively. (A lot more people ask questions about who Ozy's "real" father is. I have four cousins who are adopted, and I'll tell you in an instant that Ozy's "real" father, in any sense that matters, is Llewellyn. But that's another essay.)

The carnivore or herbivore status of some of the characters' species isn't entirely usless. It's fun symbolically. Sheep and rabbits are bullies and antagonists. Foxes are victims and protagonists. Dragons are gentle and misunderstood. Cattle are in charge. It turns expectations upside down, which is perfect for a strip that's ultimately about misfits. (Some characters' species, like Avery's, are pretty neutral. I just think the raccoon mask makes him look a little devious. Of course, since Timulty doesn't at all, I'm probably wrong.)

And incidentally, tofu is way underrated.

Although, I suppose it should be pointed out that these were taken down for a reason. At least, I think that's a reasonable assumption.

I probably shouldn't be posting these links...

Or maybe I'm thinking too hard...

Acutally, I would like to know why those were taken down. I found them immensely entertaining and amusing, not to mention well written.

Or maybe I just have too much time on my hands.

Ah, here it is, I believe. From this essay.

Quote: (David Craig Simpson)

I suppose I ought to take down some of those older essays. I need to stop drawing these conclusions. That made me feel terrible last time...but I won't get into that now. I've already derailed this topic enough.

It's just sort of a nonsense phrase.

I, for one, would read them if you posted new essays. I love reading other people's points of views.

Hrmm... does that mean some of the ideas and philosophy in the comic are "out of date" too?

I've always seen Ozy as a Vegetarian. He just strikes me as such, and Simpson has repetitively hinted that Llewellyn is a Vegetarian. Like Father, Like Son.

As for Ozy and Millie as Teenagers. I would see a Teenage Millie wanting to go eat Felecia and Jeremy, but Ozy stopping her.

I would also see them both as slightly punkish, not extreme or anything, just Millie wearing jeans or cargos and a loose T-Shirt, instead of the "in" fashions, and Ozy wearing something a little more eccentric than his current attire, but far from "typical punk attire." I don't wear typical punk attire either. I wear cargos and a T-Shirt. I doubt I'll get any peircings, or tatoos ever. They just aren't my style. I make a statement by not having them.
