Well, I dropped a few hints over the last few days that I was working on an Ozy and Millie project. Some of you may even have wondered "what the heck is this?" Well, first let me tell you that it does not in any way incorporate rutabegas, fire, shineys, flooba, or the launching of the aforementioned items.

It is, in fact, a webpage. "A webpage? What good is that going to do us?" Well, listen and I shall explain. About two weeks ago, I said to myself "Self, you know what Ozy and Millie could use? It, and its community, could use a storyline archive, so that a reader could easily find a particular story without scouring the archives." I responded to this comment by saying "That's absurd! Who would make such a thing. Wait, what's that look you're giving me? Oh dear. You're crazy!" After which I hit myself with my cricket bat and was incapacitated for two hours. But I'm getting off track. So, on the 27th of December 2004, I sat down and visited the first comic in the archives. I then fired up notepad and started browsing and coding. At approximately 22:43 EST on December 30, I felt that the product was acceptable. It still needs to be polished, I may work on the layout, but for now, here it is.

*AHEM* Self, NOW is when you do the drumroll.
Oh, very well. But I'm going to get back at you for this.
Oh, don't be silly. You look good in a penguin costume.
Shut up.

The Ozy and Millie Story Archive

(I believe the credits are correct. If you believe they need to be changed, let me know.)

I like it, I think it's a good idea. A companion of sorts to this. Two suggestions...
Unless you're planning to change it, keep the plain look. Whatever others may think I like when websites don't add unnecessary flash or images to every inch of space they have. It does what it needs to without being needlessly excessive. Also, is there a way to be able to search by storyline as well as by year?

Personally, I've always been a fan of plain layouts. I was talking mainly of making it somewhat...smoother, so to speak.

And about the search. I personally would not be able to implement a search. Mainly because I lack a knowledge of programming that would be needed. Of course, if anyone wants to make a search for me, you'd be more than welcome.

Oh, wow, that's really an enormous help...thank you.

I assume you won't object to my mentioning this in the news section.

Actually, for a while I've been meaning to make some of exactly this sort of changes to the site--I can't help but think the "beginning" is not the best possible place for a new reader to start, and I thought it might be better to offer some recommended storylines for people to start with.

I don't think I've really gotten it through my head yet that there are lots of people willing to help me with this stuff.

WOHBANOBONGU! Erherm. Sorry about that.

Well, I must say that's a response I wasn't expecting. Feel free to post this. I have no objection.

Actually, a few thoughts on the "new reader introduction". First, I found that the long break in the archives (from August 15, 2003 to January 21, 2004) provided quite a bit of insight into the strip. I would reccomend a "tour" type feature, consisting of multiple pages. For example, start at the "cast" page, then go through some of the major storylines. One thought I had for the storylines to have all the strips for one "arc" grouped together on the same page (instead of seperate pages). The reason I say this is because it would be slightly less hassle for the reader and it would allow for other strips unrelated to the arc to be omitted. Another advantage to this is it would allow large arcs that are segmented and scattered to be presented all at once. A prime example of this is Llewellyn's 2004 campaign. (Is it a bad sign that I can now spell AND pronounce Llewellyn correctly without thinking?)

Of course, I'm sure other people would have other ideas. If you really want to get people's opinions, you could post something on the news page asking for email with suggestions. I say email because there are likely to be far more people who read the main page than just Define "Cynical." Although, the law of averages would probably throw some of the odder readers at you. But then again, we're all crazy here, aren't we? Of course, it's ultimately your choice.

If you'd like me to work on something similair to that, let me know. I guess I just like helping the community.

This is Great. I'm still on 56K, so i like having every story on one page, as oppossed to having to look through serveral pages to find the strip i want. Worthy of my bookmarks menu for sure.

I've completed the second phase of the archive. You will now see an icon next to the title of each story arc. Click it to view all the strips from that arc on one page. Also, this icon will tell you if the particular arc is being contiued from the previous arc, continues into the next arc, or both. I've put a small description of these features on the page.

Also fixed some minor typos and updated the copyright message.

(Sorry for the double post)
