well... the only card game i have any real knowledge of... im gonna get smacked for this... is pokemon. My brother had those cards all over the place, and i picked it up by watching/listening to him any time he bugged me about it. I never had a chance to get into MAGIC, and yugio never caught on in my household, so i never learned it.

Oh, and burningsheep, you seem to be a good source for questions on this type of thing, that web adress you mentioned, since i'm tired and really need to go to bed, how much does it cost. Probably cant afford it now, but for future reference.

Well...I play Magic, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh, so I'll protect you from being smacked again, Foxchild. *stands between Foxchild and any other potential smackers*

I think the decks I made for Pokemon and YGO are the most interesting. My Pokemon deck is actually a deck from the Game Boy Color Pokemon game that you originally couldn't play because one of the cards used a random generating function only computers can use...but the e-Xpedition series changed that. As for my YGO deck...

Well...let me put it this way...three of the cards in it are named "Obelisk the Tormentor", "Slifer the Sky Dragon", and "The Winged Dragon of Ra".

A number of people have suggested a card game, then changed their minds because the mechanics would be like Pokemon, Magic etc.

What about a game based on Illuminati?

Quote:

"one goal would be for each character to change the world to their liking. Llewellyn, for example, would try and make the world where people are civil and stuff. Millie would try to change it so that she ruled the earth." --iyestorm

Illuminati is not a collectable card game, and no card trading is involved - the game comes with a set of cards, and you don't need to buy more. Furthermore, each player is randomly assigned a side, each of which have different objectives - some want to control the most organisations (the game is based on taking control of organisations and building conspiracies), others want to become rich, some have to control certain types of organisation... it's a bit confusing to describe, but it would fit O&M very well - if anyone here has played it, could they try to describe it a bit better? I've only played once.

Good game though. An O&M version would be brilliant. Isolde would fit perfectly - it's a game of creating bizarre and twisted conspiracies, and what do dragons enjoy?

Some sample cards are shown here.

Fnord.

I... have never heard of this "Illuminati" until now... and i still have no idea how it works. but based on your description, i think it would work very well. i remember i was brainstorming ideas to make O&M different... and wouldnt ya know it, i had some great ideas... but now i've forgotten almost all of them.

one of the ideas was to have multiple goals. 1. to acheive the most land/money/candy or something... and thats as far as i've gotten with the idea. or at least all i can remember. yeah, i know i make it seem like i havent really thought this out too much.

but seriously, i'd like to learn about this game. and again, judging by your description, it sounds like a great idea.

It's a very surreal game. Last time I played, I was 'the Gnomes of Zurich', and one of my organisations was the Savings and Investments groups. They, in turn, controlled the Robotic Sea Monsters. A different player controlled the FBI, who somehow took over The Pale People Dressed In Black (ie Goths)

The rules could be used for an O&M game with virtually no changes - just new art and new names for some of the cards.

Illuminati does have multiple goals. The first way to win is to control x organisations, where x depends on the number of players. Each player is also assigned a different goal they can use to win:
The Gnomes of Zurich - Make $150m
The Bavarian Illuminati - control cards with a certain total power
The UFOs - choose any other player's goal
The Church of Subgenius - instead of winning my controlling x organisations, you need x-1.

Someone here must have played it, and be able to explain it properly. Please? Otherwise I'll have to buy Illuminati and stick printouts of O&M over the cards...

I'm personally leaning toward the point and click adventure game genre myself. I'll have to do some searching but I believe there is a freely availiable adventure maker availiable. Likewise some RPG game makers availiable, very Final Fantasy for the SNES look to them. I'll edit this later with more info.
We're sorry but the number that you have dialed is imaginary....Please turn your phone 90 degrees and try again.

I gave the guy 30 pounds, he deserves it.

Anyways, I could do a point and click kinda game, much more compadiabe with the animation restrictions, but less fun, and I'll have to somehow get a story line off DS.

Weee... An idea revived that you never thought wills ee happen (and still shuldent)

Ummm...

I started developing an O&M game, my notes and such are available here.

It's probalby goign to be like Munchkins as a game. It's sorda diferent.

It can be played up to nine people (the more the marier). Each person is a character. The goal will be to get the requeste number of points. Each character earns or looses points for diferent tasks done. I've started to name some of the tasks and will probably asing point calues after the cards or done. That brigns us to the cards. There be sharacter spacif draw piles as well as a general draw pile (A dice rool will determin how you draw cards on your turn). A card available in the general draw pile would be Jeramy beats up Ozy and other playes will be ale to play this card on Ozy to make him lose points. An exaple of card in the Ozy draw pile would be Jeramy asks Ozy for help with hw and if oyz plays this card he will be imune for the former Jaeramy card the rest of the game. Istead he coul bounce them off to sthephan.

I have soem of the score posablilities listed and am gogin to make some cards next. I could use sugestions for cards and scorign psoabilities as well as other general advise on the game. I plan on e-mailing the game to Mr. Simpson when I finish and will credit anyone who decides to help. Also when I'm through I could figure out soem way to paly the game in the DC chat.
