I personally feel that it would be cute to see the two of them fall in love in the DISTANT future. I like the whole story concept of best friends one day finding out there's a little something more there. As I've mentioned in the past, I love Disney's Kim Possible, and that's exactly how the series ended.....until fans protested and brought it back into production that is. The point is, it was really sweet.
However, I don't think this is the only way things could possibly turn out between Ozy and Millie or that it HAS to happen. Genuine platonic friendships can be just as high up on the "AWWWWWW!" factor ^-^ I'd be just as happy if the strip ended that way. So lets just sit back and enjoy the ride!

As a writer myself, one thing I know is that whatever you do, there will always be those who agree and those who disagree, and those who simply don't care.
I also know that characters who come alive enough in your mind or your heart tend to know their own minds and their own hearts.
I also know that they can surprise you, disappoint you, anger you, distance themselves from you, cause you to hate them and then attempt reconciliation with you.
And these are 'your characters', 'your creations'.
I have written short stories, plays, screenplays, audio dramas, novels... and those I love the most have been those whose characters have come so alive in my mind that they have taken their own paths, made their own lives and destinies. Who have kept me half-awake as I lay in bed watching them living in my headspace, being themselves.
Everything comes to an end. As one thing ends, others begin. Sometimes, a thing must end for another to begin. That is the way of things; that is how it always has and always will be.
I say that I could imagine Ozy and Millie becoming sweethearts. I could see many things in the strip. I could even see Llewellyn and Ms Mudd falling in love, right back when I first began reading the comic, years ago. Just because I say I can imagine it, does not mean that I want it to happen.
They are children. Adulthood lasts such a long time. Let us simply enjoy watching, and see what happens.

Just a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction, taking every wrong direction on his lonely way back home.
(And there are a lot of wrong directions on that lonely way back home.)

I've become aware of numerous comic books, and not just from the same companies, that show possible semi-distant futures for the characters. For a comic strip, that would be harder to pull off.
I kind of assumed that she would become more like her mother, but you might be right. We really don't know much about Ms. Mudd's childhood.Millie love is something no mortal can survive if her energy and activity continue to grow exponentially as they have been doing.
Barring the "Blondie" route, which I imagine DCS has too much dignity to pursue. As for the comic ending - it has to happen one day.

My deviantart... though it does suck.
My FA... nothing's on it right now, so there's no point to click it.

You should see some of the comments I got for my last strip about Jess and Isabel. People really want to see romance everywhere!
Rooster, I think we are a dying race of people that don't want to see Ozy and Millie in bed. o.o
I mean, just because two best friends happen to be of opposite sexes, doesn't mean that they're eventually going to end up in bed or in love. I mean, I've never slept with any of my female best friends...well, one...but that doesn't count due to alcohol.

But speaking a little bit more relevantly, it's probably the tendency to seek a happy ending that causes this thing you speak of. How many happy endings include "and he got the girl," eh?

I'm just using KP as an example of what I mean people. I don't want to see Ozy and Millie end either. This is not Kim Possible and i don't want to see this comic endmain problem: this isn't Kim Possible, and that's weird.
Of course it doesn't mean that. It's just something fun to think about. Besides, considering the nature of the comic, I think it may honestly work better if they didn't.I mean, just because two best friends happen to be of opposite sexes, doesn't mean that they're eventually going to end up in bed or in love.
