the only thing i would actually need help with is getting the pictures for the cards and ideas for different cards and stuff. the actual game could be played out in the message boards in the games section. oh yeah, the picture person is gonna need a scanner. unless all the pictures come from the comic itself.

oh yeah, one more thing... what kind of paper are cards made out of? and should they have sharp corners?

basically, there would be absolutely no software involved, save for the computer and scanner and stuff, but no programming.

also, i think a minigame where you play as ozy and try to avoid the Llewellyn Hair Curse would be fun. the longer you last, the more points/$$$ you get.

I can't see anything other than an old-school point-and-click adventure working as far as staying true to the source material goes. A platformer would be nifty, I guess, but it would feel too much like another "wring it for all it's worth" marketing bit, even if it was freeware. I can't see it working; it would end up going the way of any number of movie-based junk piles.

An adventure game, on the other hand...

A 2D adventure game made in the tradition of LucasArts games such as "Sam and Max: Hit the Road!" or any number of Sierra games would be a perfect opportunity to create large, detailed characters, and present a story that would make sense in the context of the comic strip. It could be made 3D, but...it would feel more like the comic strip in 2D form.

As far as a collection of minigames goes...that could work, yeah. If it were done in the style of "Bart's Nightmare" (go find it for SNES or Genesis if you don't understand) it could work nicely for O&M.

But just a generic platformer...no. It'll be fully as dull and common as anything else out there.

If O&M were made into a card game, it could end up being yet another %$@# Magic: The Garnering knock-off with the same bloody ruleset, the same objectives, and the same style of play...it's been beaten to death, beaten back to life, and finally hit with a space-borne laser and obliterated. Bottom line: IT'S DULL. To make it worthwhile, you'd have to figure out a way to make a new type of game...

*ponders*

It's POSSIBLE to come up with new ideas for a game like this, but you'd have to completely block all influences from other games to avoid being a knockoff...and honestly, I'm not creative enough to come up with something new that quickly. It's definitely worth thinking about, though. Anyone else have any ideas?

i have noticed you never touched base on the FPRPG (First Person Role Playing Game...ie: kings field series, strife, and many others that are better known..) genre...that would be interesting...

also, the card thing, you could prolly make a mod for Hoplites...i am unsure on how to do that, but, it would work well

edit: we could always just make a new deck gfx and a few armies if we do not figuer out the mod thing
