A fursona is someone in a furry form. Its like an alter-ego, its basically for fun and roleplaying pruposes.

Well I guess I'm a D then. At least according to the scale.
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.

I see, I haven't been roleplaying anyway. Guessing the closest thing I have to that is a favorite animal.

A fox is a pretty good representation of what I like in an animal. Cunning, agile, and absolutely cute ! If I were to have a fursona, it would be somewhat foxy.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

Jeez.. the furry category can be characterized by many different things that may include but are by no means limited to:

Appreciating furry art (anthropomorphic comics, drawings, stories, sculpture, costumes, etc),
Communicating those interests in communities online/in person, or at conventions,
Creating furry art,
Adopting a fursona (an animal or animal-like representation) for yourself,
Integrating your everyday life to this fursona, either unconsciously or by design.

Some others might argue the tendency to cuddle and such may be a furry trait, as that is what many people expect of a family pet, but that is a stretch, and considering the large amount of nonfurries that like to snuggle, that's not something I'd count as characteristic of furries.

That can be stretched even further to include those who find sex appealing. Are all of them furries? No. Could some of them decide to integrate their appeal for fur into their sex lives? That can be said for just about anything, not just fur.

I think I'm a class F.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Don't forget Class G. Mad scientists who conduct experiments to turn people into furries.

Does Ryo's mother count as Class G?

EDIT: forgot to mention I'm an E. Would be a D but my fursona ran off into the woods and hasn't been heard from since.

Quote: (FelixSoftpaw @ Oct 3 2005, 02:59 PM)

Oh, Holyman, your list excludes those with spiritual connections to the furry world, and artists, and writers.

Hey, there's only so much you can include on a two-dimentional scale. But hey, that's what the furcode was for.

I say was because the page appears to have disappeared. But I think it's just as well; it left out a few things, and included a lot of other stuff that wasn't relevant. Say, if anyone knows PHP or whatever, maybe we could create a "Furcode System 2.0" or something that's designed to be backward compatible yet have more relevant features.

Any takers?

Any particular reason it needs to be in PHP? (or even a similar language) I don't know PHP myself.
Still mostly here.

Well, PHP, ASP, Perl, etc. are all server-side scripts. If one wants to use forms on webpages, they would be the easiest way to get the system to work.

(Since Javascript is still browser-dependent)

Why does there have to be a definition of waht a furry is? I think the only thing that should determine weather or not someone is a furry is weather that person wants to consider him or herself a furry. I think this demonstrats my poitn here: that the only view os someone that actully matters is that persons view of themselfs. Wahtever peopel think of you is all on htem not on you. People always mkae incorect judgments about peopel. It's soemthing that's gogin to happen. If you want to be a furry then you are, if not you're not.

I don;t see a widespread stigma agaisnt furry. I see that it is somethign that very frew peopel know anythign about. I would guess that the vast majority of peole in our culture havn;t heard the term. I see a small but vocal group of people who have a negative attitude towards furry. This is something that frustrates most furs as they have some pride in their comunity. Such pride is always understandable. There are people in the furry comunity that give ti a bad name and the distractors of the sub-culture focus on such people. The fucus of the distractors attitudes is in no way indicitive of the furry comunity. The only thing I see that being a member of the furry comunity would say abotu somethign is that they are more lickly to be excentric then other people (which makes sense). Most peopel who actully know the furry comunity doon't have anythign agaisnt furs. Most peopel don;t knwo anyhting so obvious they don;t have any fealign one way or the other towards the comunity.

I think making decisions abotu who you are bassed on the vocal ravings of a few people isn't something that is wise. No matter what the stigmas are for any comunity if you are confortable with who you are then it shoudlnt; matter. My advise is not to worry to much about it. Eiother you're a furry or not and any meanings that are atached to it for yourself you atach them.

Yeah its kinda like British punk gave punk sorta a bad name in the states. People focused on the British punk scene rather than the New York City punk scene, which was actually more artsy, they were innovaters. But people made their oppinion on punk from the British. So there is still a stigma around it. I don't have a stigma against really anything. Baiscally if you think punk is about getting bad grades and skipping school, I don't care, mess up your own life. If you smoke, take drugs, or anything like that I don't care, if your a nice person I'll be friends with you anyway. If your gay or a lesbian I don't care infact one of the assitant scoutmaster's has a son (who is now in his early 20s) who is gay and hes a perfectly respectable person. Stigmas are idiotic, do what you want I don't care as long as they don't try to influence me I'm fine.
