Aww, but I that blue string one! Okay, maybe some of us have a higher cuteness threshold.

Actually, I'm surprised it's that low, considering some of the comics that are ahead of it in there.

Wow, #120 (or whatever its ranking is now) is impressive out of that many choices. Of course, it could rank dead last and wouldn't make any difference to me; I like it a lot regardless.
The best way to deal with sarcasm is to ignore it and act as if the person were sincere. That way they get mad at you and beat you over the head with rutebegas. I know from personal experience... The getting angry part I mean. Not the rutebega beating.

Certainly the artwork alone doesn't make a good comic. I was judging from an essay by DCS that was in the Words section of the O&M Web site before that section got discarded. He was griping about "talking heads" comics in which the cartoonist just did a lot of copy-and-paste. Just because writing comes first, he said, doesn't mean that art doesn't matter. That essay was years ago, so he might have changed his mind, but I don't count on it.

Artistry can be the determining factor for me. I have continued reading not-so-hot comics because I liked the look of them, and some comics that may be well-written don't even get a chance from me.

DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

They're easier to get looking average for a sprite comic than a drawn one, but to actually look good it takes more skill with that respective medium than with a drawn comic. (actually, I'd say that the skill required to do this and the overall effect just isn't worth it, I mean, seriously, if you're that good with sprites do yourself a favour and get out of the sprite comic world and into the freeware/shareware game developement world. Less effort, and a slightly larger potential audience. Though, if you make them because you enjoy making them rather than for public recognition or to express your stories, who am I to stop you) unless you're going for a very specific effect)

Though saying that, drawn has a higher top-end than sprite comics do.
