Neat. I too love the parchment-y effects and stuff, as would be quite evident to anyone visiting my website.
No offense, of course. Too bad you can't buy them in France for a while.

Whut? I believe the "reprint-style" books were previously published by Plan Nine in their little horizontal-style books. But that didn't last all that long because Plan Nine is sort of annoying. I'd say it's a safe bet that we are into never-before printed territory. And of course the strips weren't printed in Tofu Knights! That's a current volume, and they don't overlap or anything.Interesting that it's not a reprint-style cover, though. Is there a reason to it? Does it include strips that are not reprints because they were not in om but not in Tofu Knights either?

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!

I like how he broke with tradition on the design this time. Livens things up a bit. The strips in this book would be new enough that a new drawing could pass for matching their visual style or, at least, being only slightly newer.
Still, shouldn't it be Millie on the cover, since the Perpetual Motion storyline was about her?

I doubt she'd stay still long enough. Besides, Ozy does fit this design.Still, shouldn't it be Millie on the cover, since the Perpetual Motion storyline was about her?

Hum, that's not what I meant. The other "reprint" books (Prehistrionics, the big book of semi-coherent wisdom and zen again) have a picture, a theme colour and lots of strips in the background. This one doesn't, even though it's a reprint.Neat. I too love the parchment-y effects and stuff, as would be quite evident to anyone visiting my website.Whut? I was asking if it also included strips that had never been printed anywhere, which would make it a partially new book and not only a reprint, and would explain the change of design. Or if there was another reason.
And I intent to buy them from lulu, if I buy two of them or more I get free shipping.
Are you sure It's a reprint? I admit I don't really know. Hm.Hum, that's not what I meant. They'll give you free shipping? When was this? They've never given me free shipping and I've published two books on there!

Did I say free? I must have been tired. It's just a lot cheaper, is all. It costs me less to buy two books with the "super saving shipping" they offer than buying one with the regular shipping. Are you sure It's a reprint? I admit I don't really know. Hm.

And yeah, it's at least partially reprints. DCS said after publishing Zen again "I'm now nearly done for re-releases" (or something to that effect). plus (and that was my major point) if you look at the back of "Zen again" it says it has strips from books 3 and 4. Not from book 5 (om). I'm assuming these are in "Perpetual Motion".
I guess it's probably a half/half. I had just assumed that when DCS went from Plan 9 to Lulu, he started his prints right where he had left, so right after om. I guess he was more clever than that and decided to do it by years, which changed things and means that the last so many strips of "Perpetual Motion" have never been printed before.
Which is fine by me and explains the difference in cover design. I think that sorting them by years help. For one thing, it prevented DCS from having to give a number to "Tofu Knight" (depending on the number of strips, he could have had to put more years together and do less volumes. plus there is that whole redesigning thing that didn't happen right on January the 1st and made it all more difficult to calculate).
It does give a chronological element to it, though, which without having book numbers could have been tricky.
My last point is that if there are no numbers, it helps having "best of" books that don't go chronologically between any book, so shouldn't be numbered, but can be labelled as, for instance, "Best of Ozy and Millie, 1998 to 2007", so it can fit perfectly in your collection after volume "2006-2007" (for instance).
Plus, it's strips, and even if they refer to each other, they don't have a storyline from the beginning to the end. Sorting them by years is therefore more accurate, and doesn't force the reader to start with any book or think "wait, this one is book 2! I have to wait until I have read book 1 before I read it!"
Thanks for clearing that up ^_^. So it IS a change in design from the other reprint books. All reprints, half of book 4 ("Authentic Banana Dye"), all of book 5 ("Om"). "Tofu Knights" picks up right where this one leaves off.
Well, I like the cover, so I'm not complaining about that. I was simply wondering.
