Then we should have the admin make a collaborate thread where people can post their poems.Weird, perhaps, but not against the rules. Also, poetry is more uncommon on this forum, so it seems like a good idea to collate it into a single thread. But that would be weird if it was a person's art thread, don't you think?
I mean, if I drew a bunch of pages of Ozy and Millie, I wouldn't want some random person posting an Ozy and Millie fanart in me thread.

none of the arguments in this thread for/against others giving poetry (except maybe the initial ones) make much sense to me.
Johnathan started a thread for poems, initially only posted one, and so other people were like "oh nice poem. here let me show you a poem I wrote recently". It would be kind of weird to say "here let me post a poem I wrote, but you will have to go look for it in a new thread" now wouldn't it?
I don't really see where the confusion stems from

If I made a thread that I didn't want anyone to post in, I would MuffinSticks' in the title. But anyway yeah, nice poetry. It's a good additive to the fanworks section.

Darn my senior moments.
Oh well Here's shooting stars.
Oh to be a shooting star.
To lie in the heavens serving a greater purpose.
Oh to be a shooting star.
To be a source of hopes and dreams.
To be a martyr of the sky.
To grant a wish upon my fall.
Oh to be a shooting star.
To lie in the heavens serving a greater purpose.

Meh, might as well post this even though I usually can't stand reading the stuff. Made it 4 years ago for freshman English class as part of a "poetry portfolio" we had to make. This one was a "definition poem" which should be bleedingly obvious.
Oh, and there's this one as well. Made it shortly after my grandmother passed away, and it's been somewhat popular at family reunions which is to be expected I suppose. Probably the only poem I've written that I put any actual feeling or emotion into. Once again, part of the poetry portfolio project, as a "remembrance poem."Camping
Camping is a place to get in touch with outdoors,
a time of solitude.
Camping is stuffing the trunk of the car with equipment,
bringing the entire kitchen with you.
Camping is being over prepared,
having equipment for every scenario.
Camping is bringing bug spray and then forgetting to use it.
Camping is hiking for one mile and calling it five.
Camping is having no schedule,
free to do whatever you want.
Camping is cooking breakfast until two o’clock pm.
Camping is whittling a small stick with a pocketknife
and calling it an arrow.
Camping is finding poison ivy
and not recognizing it until it’s too late.
Camping, simply, is nature itself,
with little reminders of mankind thrown in.
I Remember
I remember Grandma B.
Hazel Blizzard.
The half of the family that was more than half.
The side with more relatives than I’ll ever know.
And you were the mother of most of them,
or grandmother,
or great-grandmother,
or even great-great-grandmother, for those two kids.
I remember your house, with two stories,
and the piano
and the game closet
and the record player
and the huge TV
and the basement with the soda can crusher.
I remember the raspberry bushes in your backyard
where I would eat more than I picked to bring inside.
And the trains, oh the trains, the tracks behind your house.
I would either tremble in fear from them
or welcome the earth-shaking intrusions.
I remember the apartment you moved to
with the fold-out couch
and the jigsaw puzzles
and your spirit as high as ever.
I remember your nursing home
where life consisted of eating and sleeping,
and waiting for visits from those you loved.
I remember your wheelchair
and your struggle to continue walking
while smiling and laughing the whole time;
No frown could ever invade your face.
I remember your urn, Grandma,
where all that was left of you
was sitting right there
in front of me.
I remember you, Grandma Blizzard,
and all that you’ve done in my life
to make me the way I am.
Thank you.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you.

Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...
