how so? I believe you, but I just looked at the lyrics and I couldn't see your reasoning from it.
In the original cut he says "Imagine no possessions, oh man this sucks, I'm cold and bored" but he decided that would hurt sales of the single.

I remember a sketch in the old Dave Allen at Large TV show, where a hippie plays a guitar and sings about peace before an audience. Two people in the audience whisper to each other and laugh, and eventually other audience members start complaining, then a shoving match starts, then the audience is all involved in a fistfight. Seeing this, the hippie stops performing and walks off the stage in disgust. Off stage, a staff member asks, "Did they get the message?" The hippie shouts, "Aw, shut up!" and then smashes his guitar over the staff member's head.

Thats like in Billy Jack where they have the sketch where the person who doesn't stand during the national anthem is attacked for not doing what the others tell him to do.

"Billy Jack"? Hell, the whole pantsless movie is about "peace through violence"!

The sequel is about how Billy Jack actually is in the wrong spiritually for being so violent, but that movie is also horrible. I think the message we should take from Billy Jack is that being a pacifist is a less effective way to solve problems as karate

I don't think he's saying he believes that, I think he's just saying that that's the intended message of the film.

Well its not the intended message, but does appear to be the strongest message. Just take a look at the number of pacifists raped or almost raped compared to the number of karate masters raped or almost raped. Theres a two to one ratio there.

In the movies perhaps. I doubt RL hippies were so desirable except to very desperate males. :-P
