Let me just say, my antivirus program has stopped about five viruses since I installed it, and with the exception of one, they have all come from legitimate sites. Why? Banner ad services. They are notorious for having no scruples, even the ones trusted sites sign up with. First it was malware masquerading as useless applications (Zwinky, anyone?) and now it's Flash ads that have malware built right in.I love how you didn't deny that you were getting viruses from shady porn sites.
Another reason I'm proud to be the owner of an ad-free website.
Oh, and that other virus? Somehow got attached to the setup file for BitTorrent. Which was easily enough deleted since I had already installed and didn't need it anymore.
If you treat your PC right, it will treat you right. With Mac, you pay nearly twice as much for significantly less physical hardware performance. Like has already been said, you can get a PC to run nice and smooth if you are good to it, and there are some good video programs you can pirate for it such as Adobe Premier (just be careful where you get the torrent from of course!).
OK. pants it. I lied. It's drum and bass. What you gonna do?
Macs rule ^-^
But then again, I'm a great proponent of BeOS and RISC OS powered computers too

Interesting... I use a PC for the most part, yet I'm typing this from my iPod. It's like watching galaxies collide.
I might post something semi useful when I'm not typing on a virtual keyboard at about 15 words per minute.

Astro> gforce's smiles can cure cancer in kittensgforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Liking pcs is just a matter of how much you know about computers. If you know how to fix things on pcs, they're much better; more to do, and more customizable. Macs, on the other hand, are so straight forward that its pretty hard to mess anything up. Admittedly, mac has some better programs when it comes to media, but its not like you can't get something impressive with a pc (ie, torrents).
In conclusion:
Work computer + Lots of money = Mac
Fun computer = PC
Fun computer + Work computer = PC + Knowledge

No matter what what peoples views are on this, it sounds like you're stuck with a pc for a while as it is. Perhaps it would make more sense to just pinpoint those problems rather than having just another PC/Mac war.
Is it you're (not a family) computer? If you want, I could walk you through bringing you're pc practically back to factory status.
