Drawing Nights

Postby likeafox » Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:08 am

This is the Drawing Night thread. Posts can be made in it discussing the general organization/planning of Drawing Nights (not individual ones). But this thread is primarily intended to be informative. These first and second posts contain all official information about Drawing Night and past Drawing Nights.

Archive:
Drawing Night 1 (Feb 19 2009) "Birds in dire situations"
Drawing Night 2 (Mar 1 2009) "Otters rocking"
Drawing Night 3 (Mar 17 2009) "Cats on a long journey"
Drawing Night 4 (Apr 3 2009) "Underwater hijinks"
Drawing Night 5 (Apr 13 2009) "Hippies and fire"
Drawing Night 6 (Jun 20 2009) "Llamas and Vikings"
Drawing Night 7 (Jun 29 2009) "The end of the world"
Drawing Night 8 (Sep 5 2009) "Ninjas opening jars"

-------------

Currently, start times for new drawing nights are being decided upon using BSP's experimental Drawing Night scheduler

So, this post outlines some of the conventions, rules and norms about drawing nights. People can reference this and it can be edited later if it needs to be.

- We choose a predetermined date that suits as many people as possible and meet up on IRC (there's a link to it towards the top right of the page) to talk and draw during it.

- A thread will be opened in this forum for the then current drawing night to post any finished pictures.

- The topic is sometimes announced a day or two, sometimes near starting time depending on who's co-ordinating that particular drawing night. It might be decided by someone else, or by whoever's organising.

- Drawing night lasts two hours after the starting time, that involves drawing, scanning, uploading, posting, whatever, your picture/s. If you're even a minute late, no soup for you!

- You can have any number of pictures, it depends how many you can think of and draw in the allowed time.

- Drawing nights are not limited to pen and paper. Tablets, animation, painting, writing, and any creative effort relating to the topic are welcome.

- This is not a competition, there are no winners and never have been. Don't expect to enter it in order to win free internets.

- Drawing night has the spirit of NaNoWriMo, in that we're not trying to make a finished clean piece of art. Just a short challenge to flex and develop our creative muscles.

Drawing Night archive, all sorted and named by artist and all that jazz: http://www.zumodrive.com/share/98dMTkzNz

Once in a particular folder, you can click the "Play Slideshow" button to, well, play a slideshow. Apparently the built-in previewer doesn't support PNG images, even if it works when you double-click the file in question. Go figure.

You should also see a *.zip file with all the files inside if you don't want to browse them individually.

Only one missing, to my knowledge, is Liz's contribution for "Cats on a Long Journey"

I think there should be a link to Dan's collection in the first or second post, as well.

Updated my post to be more informative, added Jack's new viking picture to the archive. If anyone has any of the 3 images I know I'm missing (Jason's and Liz's for night #3, Jason's for night #4) please get me a copy.

Archive updated then. AND I'M VERY GLAD I ASKED. Your "cats on a long journey" one is incredible.
