These are very high-quality animations you have here. I'm really impressed.

I apologize, Rocket Girl.
No need...at least, not regarding what you've said about my vids. Now, putting a space between "Rocket" and "Girl", however...

That animation would serve a video game well.

Seriously, tho, guys...thanks for all the compliments. Really; I appreciate 'em.

Most of my LJ peeps are pretty indifferent to what I post (which I find mildly annoying sometimes; feedback is hard to come by) so I really am thankful for hearing what you folks have had to say.

Granted, "Doood, that's bodacious!" isn't exactly critical feedback one can use to attacks one's weaker areas, but hey...an ego-stroke isn't exactly unwelcome, neh? ;)

So, thanks!

Allow me to fill that void then.

While your animation is good (better than I can do, no doubt, I'll have to admit you need some serious work on your shots and your lighting. Overall, it just makes it seem... amateur, ya' know? Me being a cinematographer/Director, I'm able to see these little things and they make me RAGEEEEEEEE- I mean, I can't help but notice.

Indeed; that's perfectly valid. At least for the lighting.

For episode two, I've devised a new lighting scheme. Unfortunately (for my insistence on certain kinds of realism), I've had to abandon the idea of using the lights I built into the set--there's a lightstrip in the ceiling, and a few fill lights--and go instead with a lighting setup that actually focuses on lighting the character instead.
S'probably the former video game level designer in me fighting with the cinematic animator; I'm used to building lighting models for environments rather than cinematic shots.

As for the shots, well...perhaps I need you to be more specific about what's wrong with 'em. I've gotten compliments on them from other people, and they do accomplish what I set out to show.
Maybe it's just a taste thing, I d'know; I had a fairly specific style in mind when I edited this thing, blocked out the shots, so...

Your videos are quite good. I was impressed by the mouth animations, less so by the running animations.

Also lol'd at the reply to the comment about when it's coming.

The scenes in space look really good. What looked least convincing is the walking. It looks awkward in places. But I've never tried 3D animation, so my criticsm isn't well-informed. Maybe walking is hard to do.

It is, I've tried it. There are just way too many parts of the body that move in different ways for walking to be convincingly done by hand in a short time. The only easy way to animate walking is motion capture (prohibitively expensive).

Good stuff! Yeah the walking is a little awkward, but it doesn't really detract from it at all. The space battle parts are pretty damn awesome.
