in Ireland, a "Millie" is a really derogatory term for a girl.

Basically means a slutty self-obsessed little tart.
And this is a name for a vixen, no less.

First to say an adjectiv that goes with a male person ends with the letter i in the Cro language and for a female person with the letter a.
So Millies name in Cro is Mila and this is translated to words like nice, not rude etc. so things we dont usualy asses Millie with.

I've never heard the name Millie mean anything other than being short for Millicent, Camilla, or Myfanwy (pronounced "Mill-an-wii").

Interestingly enough, someone once asked me if any of my characters names had significance...they don't because names rarely conote character. I mean, the name Millicent is usually an old person name. Chances are, DCS names his characters in a similar way to me in that he chooses names he likes and fits the character.

Its pretty simple. The "smarter" characters have more rare and complex names, while the "dumb" ones have simple and/or common names.

This just occurred to me tonight...I wonder if Jeremy is named after the song of the same name by Pearl Jam. Jeremy in O&M is similar to the Jeremy described in the song (though not to the extreme portrayed in the song), and Pearl Jam are from Seattle.

I dunno. Timulty isn't that smart, even accounting for his age.

He's not smart, but he's intellectual. Amirite?

According to the character page on the O&M site, Jeremy is named after a bully from DCS's youth.

Except Jeremy in the song is about a troubled youth who was picked on and killed himself in front of his class.
