Re: Wednesday, January 5, 2000: Return to individuality
I think a lot of kids naturally seek conformity as a form of validation. But they don't like to have it imposed by people they perceive as authority figures. Thus, advertising has to convince you that the decision you're being manipulated into making is actually your own. This does explain Apple's ...

Wiat, so are we supposed to feel sympathy for Music Zebra, and if so, does that make Millie a soul crusher?Mr. Larnblatt strikes me as someone who got into teaching music because of genuine passion, and has had that more or less driven out of him by kids like Millie.

Re: Tuesday, January 11, 2000: Millie's art project
Why would the teacher allow Millie to bring a drum up for her art project?I think this might be another shot at "Look, I'm a waffle" that just comes off as contrived.

And then DCS learned a valuable lesson about not writing yourself into a corner...And then, fortunately, it was December, and I didn't have to worry about how to handle the uniform situation for a few weeks.

Also Crow's Christmas wish for wanting to determine who lives and who dies.I trust DCS is referring to the old "Peanuts" comic where Lucy says that she wanted real estate for Christmas.

Not surprised, but come on, its a site where artists that has a button that says "Criticism Not Allowed" if the artist wants to. It's bound to be a trolling hotbed.
Although, I prefer more subtle trolling.

Re: Friday, December 3, 1999: Solutions
OK I maybe had -one- teacher who preferred the 'cool' kids, but other than that I think this is an example of DCS' Exaggerated Worldview. To be honest, this part concerned me about DCS and still does. This is what 10-15 years after any incidents in elementary school for DCS, and DCS was still bitte...

Re: Tuesday, October 19, 1999: Golda Meir and Prozac
DCS did say that she liked to insert stuff like this to be more cultured than those comics making video game references. A friend told me she though this strip was really sad, and I guess it is, but I didn't know it was when I was writing it. I think I was just reflecting on the fact that we'd lose...
